Rolex GMT-Master II Baselworld 2018, ref. 126710BLRO, Nickname: “Pepsi”. Waiting time well over 10 years
The Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi is one of the best-known models of the brand thanks to its large bezel in blue and red. In the 1950s, the model originally came on the market as a pilot’s watch. But since the GMT-Master II was equipped with high-tech ceramic bezels, there are no more affordable steel models from the Swiss watchmaker. The fans were delighted when the new GMT in the stainless steel Pepsi version was presented at Baselworld this March. The demand for this eye-catching model was immediately so great that no new customers could be placed on the waiting lists. Fortunately, the model is here with me currently with a delivery time of only 24 hours.
Rolex GMT-Master II, ref. 116710BLNR, nickname: “Batman”, waiting time: 3 to 4 years
The Batman version, which was officially initialed BLNR for bleu-noir, has been somewhat overshadowed by the more well-known Pepsi variant since Baselworld. However, with its blue-and-black design, the model is still very popular, making headlines in 2013 with the first two-tone bezel made from a single piece of ceramic. In most countries, the waiting list for this beauty is at least 3 to 4 years. You will find the reference 116710BLNR with 30days delivery status.
Rolex Submariner Date, Ref. 116610LV, Nickname: “Hulk”, Waiting time: 3 to 5 years
One of the most famous watches in the world, the Submariner is one of Rolex’s most popular models and is often referred to as the most fake watch of all time. The Rolex Submariner Date “LV” model, successor of the “Kermit LV”, is known for its excellent water resistance and versatile design. The model has a special green dial and a green bezel. At me, prices and value added of used Submariner models have been constant for years. For new models, the waiting time is around one week.
Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea “Baselworld 2018”, ref. 126660, waiting time: 1 to 3 years
Not only GMT got a new face at Baselworld this year. Also, the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea, known for its graded blue-black dial and its incredible waterproofness to a depth of 3,900 m, got an upgrade. It received a streamlined body and the state-of-the-art 3235 movement – one of the brand’s finest mechanical creations. The fans were grateful and the wait for the new model is 2 to 3 years. The reference 126660 can currently be purchased at with a delivery time of one week.
Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, ref. 116500LN, waiting time: 10 years
The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is a legend. Starting as a sports watch in the 1960s, it has become a luxury watch with incredible prestige and is now one of the most sought-after Rolex watches that are not made of precious metal. The icon is recording a rapidly rising price index in recent years. Legendary American actor and racing driver Paul Newman helped the Daytona to even higher levels: Newman’s Daytona was auctioned for over $ 17 million last year, making it the most expensive watch in history ever to be auctioned – the ” Holy Grail “of the watch industry. To date, the new owner is unknown. Read more about doubling the price of a used Rolex Daytona in one of our current TOURBILLON magazine articles. With us you will receive new models within 14 days.
Other Rolex models that are worth waiting for: Submariner (reference 116610), Sea-Dweller “Single Red”, Sky-Dweller (reference 326934) and more – Waiting time: 1 to 3 years
For many more new Rolex models, the waiting lists are long. The traditional black Submariner (reference number 116610) is currently on the waiting list for a period of probably 1 to 3 years, while you probably have to wait even longer for the “no date” version (reference number 114060), much appreciated by connoisseurs – 2 years and more. The Sea-Dweller “Single Red” with a water resistance of 1,220 m (less than the Deepsea, but with a rather iconic, plain black dial) probably has a one-year waiting list and you need a black bezel for the GMT-Master II also wait about 1 to 2 years. Last but not least, the coveted Sky Dweller models with the reference 326934 are expected to have a waiting period of at least 1 year
Nautilus Steel & Rose Gold Watch Blue Dial, Ref. 5980/1AR
When Patek Philippe launched the Nautilus, the surprise in the watch world was huge. Hardly anyone wanted to buy the watch. That has changed. The dealers have to keep waiting lists because the watch is so sought after. Many covet, but few receive the steel Nautilus references 5711 / 1A and 5712 / 1A from Patek Philippe. Thus, the price, which the family manufactory 2018 has raised by 20 percent, 2019 by another 10 percent, has absolutely nothing to do. Demand exceeds the scarce supply. Forty-three years are not much in one’s life. Things are very different in the fast moving wristwatches business. Here only very few products outlast said 43 years. But exceptions confirm the rule. One of them is by Patek Philippe, the 177-year-old Geneva watchmaker. This refers to the “Nautilus”, whose birth struck strictly in 1974. Graphically begotten by Gerald Genta, the equally legendary and enterprising designer. At the beginning of the 1970s, his creative creativity had taken off after a few initial difficulties for what was then surprisingly positive “Royal Oak”.
